Donald Trump says he will ‘try to arrange’ son Don Jr’s wedding

President Donald Trump joined his son Donald Trump Jr. and now fiancée Bettina Anderson at a White House Christmas reception as they announced their engagement.

President Donald Trump said his eldest son’s upcoming wedding would be an intimate event and that he would try to attend, but that it was “not the right time” amid the war in Iran.

Trump appeared to confirm reports that his son, Donald Trump Jr., would get married this weekend. When asked by a reporter at an Oval Office event on May 21 if he would attend “your son’s wedding this weekend,” the president’s response indicated that his presence was not a sure thing.

“He would like me to go,” Trump said of his son. “But it’s just going to be a small, small private thing and I’m going to try to make it happen. I’m in the middle, I said, ‘You know, it’s not the right time for me, I have a thing called Iran and stuff.'”

“This is an issue I can’t win on,” Trump added. “If I go, I’ll get killed. If I don’t go, I’ll get killed, because of the fake news I’m talking about of course.”

Trump Jr., 48, announced in December at a White House Christmas party that he was engaged to Palm Beach socialite and model Bettina Anderson, 37. They were engaged at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland. Anderson threw a bridal party at Mar-a-Lago, the president’s Palm Beach estate, last month.

Page Six reported that Trump Jr. and Anderson will get married on a private island in the Bahamas this weekend. This would be Trump Jr’s second marriage. He has five children, including golfer Kai Trump, with former model Vanessa Trump. Their marriage ended in 2018.

Vanessa Trump announced on May 20 that she had breast cancer, saying in a social media post that she “remains focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, children and loved ones.”

Trump Jr. was engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, after his first marriage ended. Their relationship ended in 2024. He began appearing in public with Anderson in December 2024.

Trump said he hopes his son and Anderson “have a great marriage.”
