Trump cancels son Donald Jr.’s marriage to Bettina Anderson

President Donald Trump said Friday that he will not attend the wedding of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., to socialite Bettina Anderson this weekend.

The president had hinted Thursday that he would not be able to attend the wedding, which would take place in the Bahamas, because of its focus on the conflict with Iran and other issues.

“Even though I really wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump family, his future wife, Bettina, government circumstances and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social article.

“I think it is important for me to remain in Washington, DC, at the White House during this important time,” Trump wrote. “Congratulations to Don and Bettina. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

TMZ reported Friday that Trump Jr. and Anderson were legally married Thursday in West Palm Beach, Florida, the city where the president’s Mar-a-Lago club is located. TMZ cited a marriage certificate posted online.

The president told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday: “He would like me to go, but it’s just going to be a small, small private matter, and I’m going to try to make it happen.”

“It’s not a good time for me. I have an issue called Iran and other things. It’s an issue I can’t win on,” Trump said. “If I participate, I get killed. If I don’t participate, I get killed by fake news.”

“I hope they have a great wedding.”

Trump Jr., who runs the Trump Organization with his brother Eric, was previously married to Vanessa Trump, with whom he has five children. The 48-year-old was previously engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, who is currently the United States Ambassador to Greece and ex-wife of California Governor Gavin Newswom.

Anderson, 39, has worked as a model and is active in charitable activities in Palm Beach, Florida.

Vanessa Trump, who is dating famous golfer Tiger Woods, revealed in an Instagram post on Wednesday that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
