Iran’s president calls for Islamic unity against US, Israel in calls to Muslim leaders ahead of Eid
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed the need for greater unity and cooperation among Muslim nations to confront current threats and crises in West Asia.
In a series of phone calls with several Muslim leaders ahead of Eid al-Adha, he stressed that Islamic solidarity is crucial to overcoming regional challenges and rejecting foreign interference.
Eid al-Adha, celebrated on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, commemorates Prophet Abraham’s devotion to God and his willingness to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ishmael. Pezeshkian described this occasion as an opportunity for Muslim countries to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and collective action.
During his conversation with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Pezeshkian praised Kyrgyzstan’s opposition to a recent anti-Iran resolution at the UN Security Council. He called for enhanced cooperation in the political, economic, trade, energy and transportation sectors, particularly within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
In a call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the Iranian leader expressed optimism that a “new chapter” in regional relations could begin once current tensions ease. He attributed recent escalations to joint US-Israeli actions and reaffirmed Iran’s diplomatic commitment while defending its legitimate right to self-defense.
Pezeshkian told Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim that Muslim unity would enable collective efforts to counter the actions of Israel and the United States. He thanked Malaysia for its supportive stance and invited Anwar to visit Tehran to strengthen economic, cultural and social ties. Anwar echoed the sentiment, hoping that “Muslims will remain united against their enemies.”
In discussions with Iraqi President Nizar Amidi and Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi, Pezeshkian highlighted the deep historical, cultural and religious ties between Iran and Iraq. He called for closer collaboration in the political, economic, scientific and security fields to confront the “divisive plots of enemies.”
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon condemned military strikes against Iran as violations of international law and expressed support for Tehran. The two leaders agreed to expand their cooperation in the areas of economy, energy, transport and culture.
Along with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Pezeshkian said Iran was ready to pursue a “dignified mechanism” to end the war, provided the United States demonstrated political will. He highlighted the ongoing indirect talks facilitated by Qatar and Pakistan based on Iran’s 14-point proposal, covering several fronts, including Lebanon, maritime security and asset freezes.
Pezeshkian also praised Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said for Muscat’s mediating role. Both reaffirmed their commitment to translating Islamic unity into practical cooperation and deepening bilateral relations.
In a call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the two leaders focused on expanding trade, removing border barriers and improving transit links. Erdogan welcomed ongoing diplomatic efforts to restore regional peace.
Through these commitments, President Pezeshkian has positioned Iran as a supporter of Islamic solidarity, dialogue, and regional stability while firmly defending its sovereignty.
