The CM also held a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding cooperative sugar industry and onion farmers and assured that a positive decision regarding increase in minimum support price (MSP), increase in ethanol quota and restructuring of loans would be taken.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, the CM reflected on the outcome of the meeting, acknowledging it as productive.
He said a proposal regarding ethanol has been sought and if approved, it will solve the problems of sugar mill owners.
“A positive discussion took place. Union HM Amit Shah said that a positive decision would be taken regarding increase in MSP (Minimum Support Price), increase in ethanol quota and restructuring of loans,” he said.
“MSP will be increased. Ethanol quota will be increased. A proposal has been sought regarding ethanol. If approved, the problems faced by sugar mill owners will be resolved,” he added.
Meanwhile, regarding the onion and agriculture crisis, CM Fadnavis said that a decision will be taken within 10 days.
He said the state government has demanded that the procurement of onions by NAFED be increased to 10 lakh tonnes, along with an increase in procurement prices.
