White House releases memo describing results of Trump’s health check | Donald Trump

Donald Trump suffers from “swelling in the lower leg” as well as “mild” bruising on his hands, but remains in excellent health, the US president’s doctor said in a memo released by the White House.

Citing the results of a recent exam, Dr. Sean Barbabella’s memo says Trump “remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function.”

The memo, dated Tuesday and published Friday evening, affirms that the president is “fully capable of exercising all the functions” of the presidency.

Trump’s visit Tuesday to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was his third in 13 months and the fourth of his second presidency.

The case has been closely watched because the White House last year had to detail several of the president’s health problems after photos sometimes revealed swollen ankles, bruised hands and a blotchy neck.

Trump is also the oldest person ever elected to the White House, and his 80th birthday is June 14. Joe Biden was 82 and facing questions about his mental acuity when he left the Oval Office ahead of Trump’s second presidency.

Trump claimed “everything went perfectly” shortly after his Tuesday visit to Walter Reed.

Barbabella’s memo said Trump had “mild lower leg swelling…with improvement over last year.” The president also had persistent bruising on his hands described as “common,” “benign” and “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshakes in the context of aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention,” Barbabella added.

The memo does not address the reason for the skin treatment applied to the president’s neck in March. Nor was it indicated that he had another magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, as he did in October.

Barbabella’s memo says the president’s overall heart function is normal. Trump reportedly underwent “a complete neurological exam demonstrating normal mental status,” including screenings for depression and anxiety.

The memo gives Trump a height of 6 feet 3 inches (190 cm) and a weight of 238 pounds (108 kg).

He adds: “Preventive advice was provided, including advice on diet, recommendation to take a low-dose aspirin, increased physical activity and continued weight loss. »
