Donald Trump prepares to headline “The Great American State Fair”

WASHINGTON — An upcoming celebration of America’s 250th birthday, “The Great American State Fair,” recently saw several musical guests withdraw due to the event’s ties to President Donald Trump. Now, Trump himself is expected to headline the festivities, organizers announced Saturday.

“I understand that entertainers get ‘boos’ for their performance,” Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social Saturday, adding that he was considering bringing in “the man some say is the greatest president in history (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to replace these highly paid third rate ‘entertainers.’

The group organizing the June fair on Washington’s National Mall, Freedom 250, confirmed the billing in a statement, writing: “We are delighted to announce that President Trump will personally kick off this historic celebration.”

Trump’s social media post twice referred to the event as “Wednesday,” although the fair does not begin until June 25. The White House did not immediately clarify this discrepancy.

Danielle Alvarez, a spokeswoman for Freedom 250, noted that the broader fair running through July 10 will include an array of exhibits, family attractions, musical performances, flyovers and more.

Freedom 250 is billed as nonpartisan, but was launched last year by Trump and is led by a former State Department official appointed during Trump’s first term. Several artists, including Bret Michaels, the Commodores and Martina McBride, dropped out last week.

Michaels and other artists have said they were misled about the theme of the shows or feared being drawn into a political fight.

Other artists planning to attend include Flo Rida, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli and Vanilla Ice. The latter’s rep previously said the “Ice Ice Baby” rapper was “proud to help celebrate America’s 250th birthday!” »
