Telangana State Day: Committed to sustaining state’s growth trajectory, says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) extended his greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion of Statehood Day and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to support the State’s growth trajectory in achieving the resolution of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Telangana Statehood Day is celebrated every year on June 2 to mark the official creation of the state. Established on June 2, 2014, it became the 29th Indian state after being carved out of the northwestern region of Andhra Pradesh.
The creation of the state marked the culmination of a decades-long democratic movement focused on preserving the region’s cultural identity, promoting economic development, and ensuring self-government.

President Droupadi Murmu greeted the people of Telangana on their statehood day and said the state had made significant strides in innovation and development over the years.
“Warm greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion of Statehood Day! Telangana is blessed with a rich cultural heritage and hardworking people. The state has made significant strides in innovation and development over the years. I wish the people of Telangana continued progress and well-being,” Ms. Murmu said in an article on X.
Extending his greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion of Statehood Day, Home Minister Amit Shah said, “May the State, characterized by the vibrant culture and entrepreneurial spirit of its people, achieve heights of progress and prosperity, thereby strengthening the pride of India.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also visited X and wished people on this occasion.
“Every year… Remembering yesterday’s sacrifices… Reviewing tomorrow’s goals… An emotional backdrop… June 2. Heartfelt wishes to all on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day celebrations,” Mr. Reddy said in an article on X.
Telangana Statehood Day is a public holiday in all 33 districts of the state. The main official celebrations usually feature the chief minister hoisting the national flag at the parade ground in Secunderabad.
