South Sumatra to be PSI’s strongest voter base in 2029 elections
Ponselrakyat.com, South Sumatra – Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) DPP General Chairman Kaesang Pangarep is targeting South Sumatra as one of the strategic voting pockets for PSI in the 2029 elections.
Kaesang conveyed this goal when participating in the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorwil) and the inauguration of DPW and DPD PSI Administrators throughout South Sumatra in Palembang on Friday, June 5, 2026.
In front of hundreds of cadres, Kaesang emphasized that South Sumatra has great potential to increase the PSI’s vote share and open up opportunities to win seats for the DPR RI across two electoral districts in the province.
“We hope that South Sumatra can make a significant electoral contribution to the 2029 elections. With the two existing electoral districts, we want PSI cadres from South Sumatra to be able to penetrate the DPR RI,” said Kaesang.
Even if he appears optimistic, the youngest son of President Joko Widodo reminded executives not to be lulled by the opportunities that exist.
According to him, victory can only be achieved through structured organizational work at all levels. He stressed the importance of accelerating the formation of the party leadership, from region to branch.
“I see that the opportunities for PSI in 2029 are quite big, but this must be accompanied by real work. All cadres must collaborate, not just central and regional administrators,” Kaesang added.
Kaesang also revealed that PSI Advisory Board Chairman Joko Widodo is expected to visit several regions at the end of June 2026 to introduce PSI to the public.
He hopes that South Sumatra will also become one of the destinations of this political safari.
Chairman of DPW PSI South Sumatra Heri Amalindo emphasized that the party’s main goal at the moment is to complete the formation of the organizational structure down to the lowest level before starting preparations for the 2029 elections.
“Our priority is to complete the management of DPW, DPD, DPC down to branch levels. Once the organizational structure is strong and solid, the focus will then shift to the 2029 elections,” he explained.
Heri emphasized that PSI South Sumatra aims for maximum results in the upcoming elections. He also felt that the presence of Kaesang and Joko Widodo constituted a particular attraction, especially for the younger generation.
“PSI is a political space open to all. We invite anyone who is passionate about the development of the region and the nation to join PSI,” concluded Heri.
