Aleema pleads for the summoning of 21 prosecution witnesses

RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khanum, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan named in a case related to the November 26 protest, has filed a petition in the Special Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi to summon 21 prosecution witnesses.

Witnesses include the Federal Minister of Interior, the Federal Minister of Information and the Provincial Minister of Information, as well as other important personalities.

The court, while granting Aleema Khanum’s request for hearing, issued notices to the parties for today (Wednesday). Aleema was also given a questionnaire issued by the court under Section 342 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The questionnaire includes 37 questions. Aleema appeared in court with her lawyers Faisal Malik and Naeem Haider Panjotha.

A team led by senior prosecutor Zaheer was present.

Similarly, the court adjourned the hearing of the GHQ attack case against 120 accused, including Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, till June 30, without taking any action.

In another case, Justice Sheikh Ijaz Ali of the Rawalpindi Special Accounts Court recorded statements of three prosecution witnesses in a land grabbing case against former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.

The statements of Deputy Director of Investigation of Pakistan Muhammad Asif, Patwari Muhammad Jahangir and Yar Muhammad were recorded.

The court adjourned the hearing until July 1 and summoned other prosecution witnesses.
