PM Modi waited for 45 minutes at Delhi airport: Here’s how it related to NEET UG 2026 re-exam | India

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose to stay at the Delhi airport for 45 minutes on Sunday afternoon after returning from Kolkata to ensure that students appearing for the NEET-UG re-exam do not face any inconvenience due to his travel while traveling to their exam centers, and that traffic flow remains smooth, according to sources in news agency ANI.

According to sources, PM Modi arrived at the airport around 1:15 p.m., just 45 minutes before the start of the NEET re-examination, scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Instead of immediately going to his residence, he decided to wait at the airport so that movement restrictions related to the Prime Minister’s convoy would not affect students traveling to their examination centers.

PM Modi’s decision for the convenience of students

According to sources, Prime Minister Modi took the decision to stay at the airport temporarily to ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid any inconvenience to students traveling to their NEET exam centers. The move helped avoid traffic disruptions on Delhi’s roads at a crucial time, ensuring that candidates reached their centers without delay.

Millions of students appear for the NEET exam every year, and managing traffic in cities on the day of the exam poses a big challenge. In this context, Prime Minister Modi’s decision, which prioritizes the comfort of students, is seen as an example of administrative sensitivity.

Prime Minister Modi has frequently expressed concern over students’ welfare and exam-related issues. Through initiatives like ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, he regularly interacted with students and encouraged them to overcome exam stress. Sources said the Prime Minister left the airport soon after the NEET exam began.

NEET UG Re-Exam 2026

The NEET-UG re-examination began at 2 pm on Sunday amid extensive security arrangements in India and overseas centers for over 22 lakh medical aspirants. The exam is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after the previous test held on May 3 was canceled following allegations of question paper leak, which is still under investigation.

The re-examination will end at 5:15 p.m., this time candidates will have an additional 15 minutes.

The exam is held at 5,440 centers across 551 cities in India, as well as 14 centers abroad, and is conducted in English and 12 Indian languages.

To ensure transparency and prevent malpractices, the NTA has implemented unprecedented security measures. Over 95,000 examination halls have been equipped with CCTV, while 1,38,560 cameras have been installed, with live feeds monitored at the national, state and ministerial levels.

Additionally, 51,311 signal jammers have been deployed at exam centers to prevent electronic cheating and maintain test integrity.
