When Prabowo and Jokowi respect each other

Eye-catching moments are created when President Prabowo Subianto and 7th president Joko Widodo (Jokowi) meet at the ceremony of the 80th anniversary of the National Police or Bhayangkara Day. Unlike the other guests, Prabowo and Jokowi respected each other when they passed each other.

The 80th Bhayangkara Day ceremony was held at the National Police Mobile Brigade (Satlat) Training Center, Cikeas, Bogor, West Java. Besides Jokowi, the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, also attended the event.

First, Prabowo greeted the guests present one by one as they arrived at the venue. Prabowo also greeted the wife of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), Sinta Nuriyah Wahid, who was sitting next to Jokowi.

When it was his turn to greet Jokowi, Prabowo greeted and Jokowi immediately responded with the same respectful attitude. The two men then shook hands.

Then Prabowo continued walking to greet other guests. These include Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani, Chairman of the DPD Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, and Chairman of Commission IV of the House of Representatives Siti Hediati Hariyadi or Titiek Soeharto.

After that, Prabowo walked towards the chair that had been prepared on the main stage. Prabowo was seen sitting next to Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto was also seen sitting parallel to Prabowo.

At the event, a number of Red and White Cabinet members were present. These include Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister for Religion Nasaruddin Umar and Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.

Message from Prabowo to the National Police

On this occasion, Prabowo sent a message of appreciation to the National Police. Prabowo stressed the importance of people’s trust in the national police.

“First of all, it is necessary to maintain the trust of the people, because trust is the most powerful weapon of a police officer,” Prabowo said in his speech.

Prabowo also advised the National Police to continue to get closer to the population and protect them.

“Remember that our salaries, as instruments of the state, come from the people. All our equipment comes from the people, so we really have to take care and protect the people,” he explained.

As law enforcement agents, the National Police are responsible for enforcing the law as fairly as possible and defending those who are weakest.

“The law should not be a tool for those who have money. The law should not become a tool for political revenge. The law should not be used for the interests of a particular group,” Prabowo said.

“There can be no criminalization. There can be no abuse of authority. And no one can be safe from the law,” he continued.

Prabowo also expressed his gratitude to National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Bhayangkara Day. Prabowo mentioned the National Police which continues to improve and increase its professionalism.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the National Police Chief and all his staff who continue to improve the organization, increase professionalism, increase discipline, strengthen public services and create synergy with all components of the nation,” Prabowo said.
