SOLO, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian People’s Poultry Association (Pinsar) Central Java met with the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Solo, Central Java, Saturday (4/7/2026).
They complained about falling prices of eggs and chicken meat, which they say is putting increasing pressure on small-scale farmers.
Pinsar Central Java Chairman Parjuni said his party is hopeful Jokowi can convey the aspirations of breeders to the government, particularly to the Ministry of Agriculture.
“Earlier, we conveyed this to Pak Jokowi because the condition of herders is currently in decline. So we requested that this message be conveyed to the government and the Ministry of Agriculture so that the conditions chicken price “and these eggs are going to get better soon,” Parjuni told Solo on Saturday.

Apart from this, Pinsar also asked the government to find a solution to reduce the price of food raw materials.
“We need to include existing raw materials so that the price goes down and so does animal feed,” he said.
Parjuni also asked for Jokowi’s support for the campaign plan to increase the consumption of eggs and chicken meat.
“Previously, we wanted to campaign on chicken and egg nutrition. We asked Pak Jokowi to attend the opening of the chicken and egg nutrition campaign,” he added.
According to Parjuni, Jokowi gave his support to the plan.
“He supported us and had time to shake hands and ask for permission, for blessing,” he said.

He admitted that he last met Jokowi when he attended a livestock exhibition in Cibubur, East Jakarta.
Chicken prices are well below government benchmarks
President of Pinsar Boyolali Krishandrika Immanuel Raharjo said that Solo Raya breeders hope that the government will pay attention to the increasingly difficult conditions in breeding businesses.
“Solo Raya farmers are asking for help from their farmer friends, to be careful since the price of eggs is very bad. And broilers have fallen to IDR 14,000 and are far from the government’s reference price,” said Krishandrika.
In contrast, he added, the price of manufactured food has quadrupled.
According to him, this situation means that production costs continue to increase, while the selling price of livestock products continues to fall.
“If prices (of eggs and chickens) fall and prices of raw materials rise, production costs rise but prices continue to fall, where will the future of smallholder farmers be,” he said.
