Prince George (12) is moving to Eton College in Windsor in September – and apparently his parents, Prince William (44) and Princess Kate (44), didn’t come to the decision to go to the famous boarding school easily. According to reports, the two visited several schools before finally choosing Eton.
Educational advisor Grace Moody-Stuart of the school platform The Good Schools Guide described Hello! magazine which may have played a role in the decision: Besides security and an environment in which George can be himself, the issue of security was also central – without the young prince feeling like he was attracting too much attention.

Moody-Stuart specifically highlighted William and Kate’s engagement. “They didn’t just say, ‘Oh, I went to Eton, so my son goes too’ – as many Eton graduates do as fathers. They also looked at other options,” she said. Only boarding schools were considered – the couple apparently did not consider day schools.
Eton College is also just minutes from the family home at Forest Lodge, which may also have played a part in the choice. A school year at an elite boarding school costs around 74,000 euros. George currently attends Lambrook School in west London with his siblings Princess Charlotte (11) and Prince Louis (8).
The fact that George goes to Eton College follows a royal family tradition: William and Prince Harry (41) completed their studies there. William even held the position of school prefect, which involves supervisory duties over other students. Besides many members of the royal family, the school’s most famous graduates include former British Prime Ministers Boris Johnson (62) and David Cameron (59).
George is used to dealing with famous people. This was revealed very early on: when he received the then American president, Barack Obama (64), in 2016, he showed up to the meeting – then only two years old – in a bathrobe over his pajamas.
