The Jokowi Camp’s Wild Allegations Behind Roy Suryo’s Volume II Preliminary Trial
JAKARTA – The lawyer of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Rivai Kusumanegara, responded to the pre-trial that Roy Suryo re-filed with the South Jakarta District Court to verify whether the suspect’s determination was valid or not in the alleged case of Jokowi’s fake diploma.
Rivai said his party respected the first pre-trial lawsuit filed by Roy as a legal remedy. However, Rivai considers the second lawsuit filed by Roy to be illogical.
“It is illogical because the second object of the pre-trial is related to the validity or not of the determination of the suspect. Currently, the case is already in trial and is no longer at the investigation stage,” Rivai said, Monday (6/7/2026).
The applicant, Rivai said, no longer has the status of suspect, but is that of the accused. How then can we test the completed process, where the files are no longer in the hands of the investigators?
If Roy Suryo objects to the interpretation of the sections in this case, it should be done by filing an exception and not by filing a pre-trial lawsuit. Rivai suspects Roy filed another pretrial lawsuit to delay the trial process in the main case.
“We suspect that this second pre-trial only delays the examination of the main case, in addition to showing that the applicant is unsure of the decision of the first pre-trial or of his defense in the main case,” he said.
For this reason, Jokowi’s camp hopes that later the panel of judges can reject Roy Suryo’s pre-trial regarding the validity or otherwise of the suspect’s determination.
“For this reason, we hope that the second pre-trial judge will firmly affirm that the request cannot be accepted,” he said.
Previously, Roy Suryo again filed a pre-trial application with the South Jakarta District Court. This time, Roy filed a lawsuit to verify whether the suspect’s determination in the alleged Jokowi fake diploma case was valid or not.
The application was filed with the court on Thursday, July 2, 2026 and is registered under file number: 108/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL.
