Caitlin Clark injury update: Fever star out for Saturday’s game against LA

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White provided an update on Caitlin Clark’s injury after the star guard left Wednesday’s game early with a back issue.

U.S. President Donald Trump addressed Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas’ flagrant foul 2 against Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark on Monday (July 6).

Trump was speaking to the media and was asked about his intervention on behalf of US star striker Folarin Balogun, whose red card suspension was overturned, allowing him to play in a World Cup match against Belgium on Monday.

During his response on why Balogun should not have received a red card, he alluded to the Thomas-Clark play – which took place on June 24. “I thought your young, wonderful basketball player – Caitlin (Clark) – I thought she was treated pretty harshly, if you want to know the truth,” Trump said. “It was a very different type of event. It was a pretty bad event.”

The foul was missed in real time but Thomas received Flagrant 2, a one-game suspension and a fine after the WNBA reviewed the play. In a statement, the WNBA said Thomas “recklessly” made contact with Clark and “committed an unbasketball act” during the Mercury’s 111-109 victory over the Fever. Clark said July 3 that she was ready for the discourse surrounding the foul to be over, suggesting that dwelling on it was a disservice to the rest of the league.

“There is so much incredible talent and so many incredible players playing at an incredibly high pace,” Clark said. “…I think it’s all of our jobs to help refocus the narratives.

“We can do better in this area, and I think it will help our big game develop a lot more.”
