PTI appoints six lawyers to meet Imran at Adiala jail

The PTI has submitted the names of six lawyers to the Adiala jail authorities for a meeting with Imran Khan on Tuesday. His sisters are also expected to arrive at the jail, citing Islamabad High Court orders regarding family and legal access.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf sent the names of six lawyers to Adiala jail authorities for a meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday, as the party again seeks to implement the Islamabad High Court’s directions on access to the imprisoned PTI founder.

Lawyer Awais Younas Chaudhry, who is submitting the names to the prison administration on behalf of the PTI and Imran Khan’s family, provided the list on Monday. The lawyers appointed for the meeting are advocates Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja, Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, Hasnain Sunbal, Shahbaz Ahmad and Fatah Burki.

Imran Khan’s sisters are also expected to visit Adiala jail on Tuesday to try to secure a meeting with him. They hope that the orders issued by the Islamabad High Court will be implemented.

The court had ordered the prison administration to arrange meetings between Imran Khan, his lawyers and his family members on Tuesday, while party leaders should be allowed to meet him on Thursday. However, these guidelines have not been implemented for several months.
