Man arrested, convicted for murder of wife’s aunt in DHA – Journal

KARACHI: A woman has filed a case of murder against her husband for allegedly killing her aunt at their Defense Housing Authority (DHA) residence, police said on Monday.

Darakhshan SHO Rashid Ali said Humaira Mazhar was shot dead while she tried to stop Mahnoor’s husband Imran Khan from attacking her during a family dispute.

He said the suspect was already in custody.

A case under sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 114 (competitor present at time of commission) of the Pakistan Penal Code was registered against suspect Imran and his accomplice, Shahid, on the complaint of Mahnoor. She told police that she worked as an anchor for a private news channel and lived with her family in an apartment in Khadda Market, DHA.

She said her relationship with her husband was strained. On July 3, she was in her apartment with her aunt Humaira, her older sister Bisma and her nine-month-old son, Sharez, when her husband came home and started attacking her. When Humaira and Bisma intervened, Imran became furious and called his friend Shahid, asking him to bring a gun. Shahid arrived with the gun and gave it to Imran, who shot the deceased Humaira in a fit of anger, the complainant said. Humaira was shot and collapsed. Subsequently, Imran and Shahid took Humaira to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, left her in the emergency room and fled. She died during treatment, she added.
