A ‘proper community pub’ nominated for a national award
A Kings Langley pub has been nominated for a national award.
The Old Palace is among the nominees for this year’s Community Pub Hero Awards after being nominated by South West Hertfordshire MP Gagan Mohindra.
The MP visited pubs and surveyed opinion before offering a choice, saying the response from residents was “overwhelming” and The Old Palace had been given the green light to be a “true community pub”.

Responding to the nomination, a spokesperson for the pub said: “We are delighted to have been nominated for the Community Pub Hero Awards 2026!
“We would like to thank everyone who voted for us, it is truly appreciated! Proud is an understatement!”
Pubs are usually nominated for the awards by their MP ahead of a ceremony due to take place in the House of Commons on September 8.

The Old Palace has been under new management since last September and recently hosted Boris Johnson and his father Stanley for a book launch.
