Muhammadiyah School Reaches 1 Million Students, Proof Public Trust Continues to Strengthen

IBTimes.ID – Muhammadiyah Schools are increasingly showing their position as one of the main choices of the Indonesian people to obtain quality educational services. Public confidence in Muhammadiyah schools continues to grow, marked by student numbers which now exceed one million students.

These achievements show that an education that combines academic excellence, character building and Islamic values ​​is gaining more and more place in the heart of society.

According to Didik, in the 2025/2026 school year, the number of students in Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah schools and madrassas increased by almost 2 percent compared to the previous year. With this growth, student numbers now reach approximately 1,070,000 and are expected to continue to increase in the new academic year.

“On this occasion, we would like to report that from year to year the number of Muhammadiyah students has increased. In 2025-2026, there was an increase of almost 2 percent, so that the total number of our students was 1,070,000. God willing, this year will also see an increase based on the regional reports that have reached us,” he said.

Not only is it increasing, but the quality also continues to increase

Didik believes that the growth in the number of students is not a coincidence. This success is the result of the joint work of school principals, teachers, managers of educational charities and all elements of the Association who continue to strengthen the quality of educational services in the different regions.

He said a number of regions such as South Sumatra, West Sumatra, East Java, Lampung, Depok and Yogyakarta Special Region have managed to reverse the downward trend and generate significant student growth. Similar events also occurred in Central Java, Jambi, Malang and East Kotawaringin.

In fact, some regions previously only had around 2,500 students in 2023, but now they have around 6,500 students. There are also areas that have grown from around 500 to 626 students in the last two years.

“So there are a lot of very positive developments. Of course, that can’t be separated from friends who are former directors, former administrators, as well as directors who have successfully grown their charitable efforts. We also send a team to the field every year to strengthen them,” he said.

In addition to growth in student numbers, Muhammadiyah schools also show improvements in academic quality. In 2026, as many as 370 students have passed the National Science Olympiad (NSO) at the district level and will continue to compete at the next level.

Muhammadiyah also continues to strengthen the educational ecosystem through the MIPA program which has now been implemented in 102 schools in Muhammadiyah. This program is expected to become one of the instruments to produce competitive graduates nationally and internationally.

In the field of internationalization, the Education and Primary Teaching Council of PNF PP Muhammadiyah develops Training center Language Center and will provide technical guidance for the MIPA bilingual program in 2026. This step aims to ensure that Muhammadiyah School graduates possess global skills while being able to continue their studies at various foreign universities.

“For this reason, we are trying to ensure that children who graduate from Muhammadiyah and MA Muhammadiyah schools can participate in our children who can study abroad, as well as in our missionary efforts to spread the educational teachings of Muhammadiyah throughout the world,” concluded Didik.

The growth in the number of students, which has exceeded one million students, is an indicator that Muhammadiyah schools are not only growing in terms of quantity, but also generating more and more trust as they constantly improve quality, learning innovation, academic achievement and global competitiveness.
