Qatar Ambassador Solo Meets Jokowi, What’s New? – Today’s news
SOLO – Penanews.co.id – The city of Solo is one of the first destinations of the new Ambassador of Qatar, His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Mubarak Saad Al-Dosari. On Friday (17/7/2026), he met with former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at his residence in Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Solo, Central Java.
The Sultan’s visit to Jokowi’s private house in the Sumber region, Banjarsari, was one of the ambassador’s first programs at the start of his diplomatic activities in Indonesia.
During the meeting, Jokowi took the opportunity to inquire about the latest developments in the Middle East region following the conflict between Iran and Israel.
Besides discussing regional conditions, the two continued their conversation on light topics, including Indonesia-Qatar relations.

Jokowi said discussions with Qatar’s ambassador were more relaxed.
However, he admitted that he wanted to know the latest developments in the Middle East.
“The visit of Qatar’s new ambassador, His Excellency Dr Sultan, we only talked about it lightly,” Jokowi said on Friday, as quoted by TribunSolo.
“In particular, I ask a lot of questions about the latest situation in the Middle East,” he added.
Reasons why Ambassador Sultan met Jokowi
Meanwhile, the Sultan explained that his arrival at Jokowi was not a sudden agenda.
The visit had been planned in advance since he began serving as Qatar’s ambassador to Indonesia.
“I only visited Mr. Joko Widodo because it was previously planned,” the Sultan added.
He stressed that there were no specific discussions during the meeting.
The meeting mainly discussed diplomatic relations between Qatar and Indonesia as well as the presentation of the Sultan as the new ambassador.
“I more or less only talked about ordinary things related to Qatar’s relations with Indonesia,” Sultan said.
“I am also coming as a new ambassador. I hope you have a good Friday today,” he added.
The Sultan’s arrival adds to the list of ambassadors from friendly countries who visited Jokowi’s residence in Solo.
Previously, the UAE Ambassador met with Jokowi at his residence on Thursday (29/1/2026).
After that, the Iranian ambassador also visited on Wednesday (1/4/2026).[]
