Strange diploma affair? It turns out that Jokowi never recognized his Dian Sandi documents
The trial in the case of alleged defamation and violation of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (UU ITE) regarding the diploma of the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who ensnared Doctor Tifauzia Tyassuma or Doctor Tifa continues.
After the Attorney General (JPU) submitted a response to the opposition note (exceptions), Doctor Tifa’s legal team issued further criticisms of the construction of the indictment presented by the prosecutor.
Dr. Tifa’s lawyer, Abdullah Alkatiri, believes there are fundamental problems with the indictment. According to him, the prosecutor confused elements of alleged defamation with the provisions regulated by the ITE law.
“In his response, he (the prosecutor) mixed up the articles related to defamation. This is another thing that was discussed, another thing that was drafted,” Abdullah said after the trial at the East Jakarta District Court.

Abdullah said his client’s case uses the provisions of the ITE Act so that the focus is not on the elements of defamation, but on the owner of the document that is the subject of the case.
“Because it has nothing to do with slander, our case is about the owner of the document. This is what we have maintained from the beginning,” he said.
On this occasion, Abdullah also mentioned the diploma which was previously presented by PSI spokesperson Dian Sandi Utama. According to him, until now, Dian Sandi has never expressed any objection or reported the matter to law enforcement.
“Who owns the document? Dian Sandi, you know. Well, Dian Sandi never reported it, never objected to it,” Abdullah said.
He then explained that if the prosecutor based the charges on Dr. Tifa’s statement on a television show, there would first have to be a confession from the party who claimed the document as their own.
“What happens first is that Jokowi says that what Dian Sandi really has is my diploma, and I oppose Brother Tifa’s actions,” he explained.
However, according to Abdullah, until now, Jokowi has never openly made this statement.
“Brother Jokowi never recognized that what Brother Dian Sandi showed was his,” he stressed.

Abdullah also questioned the basis of the objection which was later used as a basis in the case when there was no acknowledgment of ownership of the document in question.
According to him, if the documents presented by Dian Sandi really belonged to Jokowi, it could indeed be disclosed openly without causing prolonged controversy.
“If it’s true, yes, he doesn’t need to show his diploma. He can just tell the press, all of us, that what brother Dian Sandi showed is mine. I object to it, it was handled by brother Tifa,” he added.
