No. 7 USC Men’s Tennis Serves 4-2 Victory Over Vanderbilt To Reach ITA Kickoff Weekend Finals

LOS ANGELES, CA. The No. 7 USC men’s tennis team earned a 4-2 win over Vanderbilt during USC’s first game of ITA Kickoff Weekend.
Tomorrow (Jan. 29), USC takes on crosstown rival No. 25 UCLA in the championship game at 2 p.m. at Marks Stadium. That morning at 11 a.m., Memphis and Vanderbilt face each other in the consolation game. The winner of the USC-UCLA battle will receive a ticket to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Chicago.
The Trojans quickly stood out in doubles, with the Trojan duo of Peter Mak and Lodewijk Weststrate quickly beat Vanderbilts Nathan Cox and Michael Ross 6-3 on lane two. On the center court, the number 12 ranked duo of Stefan Dostanić and Bradley Frye defeated Vanderbilt’s Troost/Casabon 6-3 to clinch the double.
Vanderbilt hit back when the singles began, with Siim beating Troost Lodewijk Weststrate 6-3, 6-4 on court five. No. 65 Bradley Frye went ahead and defeated Michael Ross 6-3, 6-3 on court three to put the Trojans back on top.
No. 79 ranked Stefan Dostanić was next to score, beating Vanderbilt’s Joubert Klopper 6-4, 6-3 on center court to extend Troy’s lead. USC’s ranked No. 38 Peter Mak would decide the game for the Trojans, but not before Vanderbilt scored a final run as Casabon beat Marek 6-4, 6-1. The game on court six was abandoned.
