Moment 15-year-old tennis star Ida Wobker was kicked out of Wimbledon after shocking on-court meltdown

It’s the kind of tantrum a 15-year-old would be punished for. For Ida Wobker, it was much worse than losing her cell phone for a week.

While tied 5-5 with Valentina Pop in the second set, the German teenager suffered a meltdown after missing a backhand long, leading to a disqualification from the first round of Wimbledon’s junior girls’ tournament.

Wobker threw her racket into the ground before it bounced up and landed in the stands along court 11.

It’s not clear if the racket hit any spectators, but there were plenty of fans in the area.

Immediately Wobker rushed over to apologize for the incident, but the referees stopped the match and decided to give the 15-year-old a code violation for her behavior.

Pop earned an automatic win on Saturday, but lost to Daniella Britton in the second round.

Wobker then responded to the incident in an Instagram story on Saturday evening.

According to The Sun, she wrote: “S–t happens, you learn from it!”

The International Tennis Foundation rules state that tennis players “shall not hit, kick, or throw with force or anger any racket or other material within the grounds of the tournament grounds.”

It also states: “For the purposes of this Rule, abuse of rackets or equipment is defined as the intentional and violent destruction or damage of rackets or equipment, or the intentional and violent hitting of the net, court, umpire’s chair or other object during a match, out of anger or frustration.”

Wobker was eliminated 6-0 in the first set and was unable to build up a buffer in the set.

Before defaulting, she made 44 unforced errors and 11 double faults.

Pop had the upper hand all match, making only seven unforced errors and four double faults.

Wobker is ranked 24th in the ITF junior world rankings.
