Watching these remarkable young women prepare to represent Ontario and Canada in England this August fills me with an incredible sense of pride. For the first time, Cricket Across the Pond is sending an all-girls delegation to England, a historic milestone that reflects the growing opportunities for young women in sport and leadership. Powerful learning can also happen outside the classroom, and experiential learning gives students the opportunity to build confidence, resilience, leadership and a sense of belonging. Sports are one of the many ways we help students discover their strengths, collaborate and develop skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. Representing the Peel District School Board and the Toronto District School Board, this talented group of students will visit some of the most iconic cricket venues as they learn from new cultures, build lifelong connections and grow as leaders. When they return, they will become ambassadors for the sport and role models who inspire other young people, especially girls, to pursue their passions and lead with confidence. I am especially proud of the students from Stephen Lewis Secondary School, three-time cricket champions, and the students from Turner Fenton Secondary School, who are taking part in this historic tour.
