To give parliamentarians (MPs) and the general public easy access to all budget-related documents, the Treasury launched the Union Budget Mobile App prior to the release of financial statements on Monday. Federal Finance Minister Nirmala Sisaraman said her third budget would be “unprecedented” as the country is rebuilding after the economy was hit by a coronavirus pandemic. ..

This application was launched by Sisaraman and is very useful as it makes the budget paperless for the first time. Developed for both Android and iOS platforms, this app provides full access to budget documents such as financial invoices and annual financial statements.

Here’s everything you need to know about budget apps.

1. The app can be downloaded to the Android and iOS mobile apps from the official Indian Budget website (www.indiabudget.gov.in).

2. The app is bilingual with support for English and Hindi

3. The app is designed by the National Informatics Center (NIC) and does not require login or registration.

4. The following documents will be available in the app after the announcement of the Union Budget: a) Finance Minister’s Budget Speech

b) Annual Financial Statements (AFS)

c) Grant request (DG)

d) Fiscal bill

e) Mandatory Statement under the Fiscal Liability and Budget Control (FRBM) Act of 2003-i) Macroeconomic Framework Statement and ii) Medium-Term Fiscal Policy and Fiscal Policy Strategy Statement
