Hernandez Javier “Chicharito” of the Galaxy leads the victory over Earthquakes | field level
Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez scored twice, once in each half, to lead the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy to a 3-1 victory over struggling San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.

Hernandez’s first goal saw him shoot into the penalty area, picking up a cross from Samuel Grander and slipping it back into the net. In the 50th minute, he scored his 10th leading Major League Soccer goal of the season from a streak to goal and a pass from Kevin Cabral.
In the 30th minute, Galaxy had a chance to consolidate their 1-0 lead. Cabral found Grandsir with a pass into the penalty area from the breakout, but Grandsir’s shot missed the net.
Earthquakes didn’t score any shots on target in the first half, but Javier Lopez hit the crossbar with an early shot in the second half.
After Florian Jungwirth’s own goal in the 70th minute made the score 3-0, Cady Cowell scored for San Jose in the 82nd minute, and Earthquakes pressed for more, but was unable to advance.
Each team finished with 13 shots and three shots on target, with San Jose accounting for 63 percent of the game.
