In the Hebrew Bible, Genesis boldly proclaims: “God created mankind in the image and likeness of God.” (Genesis 1:27)

However, in his hard work, God: A Human History, Reza Aslan notes that almost all religious traditions the world has known sought to humanize the divine. The history of human spirituality can be seen as a long, coherent, and constantly evolving effort, but coherent in understanding God by making God in the image and likeness of humans.
