No warnings were issued after yesterday’s earthquake on the island

You wouldn’t have imagined anything if you felt the earth move beneath you right after dinner time last night.

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit the west coast of the island near Tofino at 7:50 p.m.

Earthquakes Canada says it has not received any reports of damage, but people have reported it was felt across the island. Most of the reports came in the Campbell River and Comox Valley region, with some outliers such as Woos and Victoria. A few people even claim to have felt it in Powell River, Seychelles and Vancouver.

Earthquakes Canada did not provide a warning of any aftershocks.

It is the second quake in as many days as a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck 288 kilometers offshore, west-southwest of Tofino, at 5:10 a.m. Thursday.

There was no damage or any warnings issued after the earthquake.
