A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan, and tremors were felt in parts of India

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck 79 kilometers southeast of Faizabad, Afghanistan on Sunday morning, according to the Indian National Center of Seismology. The epicenter was 220 km below the Earth’s surface.

According to preliminary information shared by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the earthquake was reported to have a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale 70 kilometers east-southeast of Faizabad, Afghanistan.

The earthquake happened at around 10.19 am, the earthquake was felt in different locations around Punjab, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. The tremors lasted for a few seconds. However, no injuries, injuries or damages have been reported.

In late March, a strong 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Indian subcontinent. The earthquake, which originated in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush mountain range, was felt by people in New Delhi and other parts of the National Capital Region as well as in Afghanistan, Pakistan and northern India. India’s National Center of Seismology estimated that the epicenter was 156 kilometers below the surface of the planet. At 4:17 pm (GMT or 10:17 pm Indian Standard Time), tremors were reported that lasted for a few minutes.

Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, New Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh experienced earthquakes. The earthquake was felt in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, as well as in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
