Trump is trying to stay away from Councilor Fauci’s attacks

The public struggle between President Donald Trump’s economic and medical advisers was extended to another day, with the publication of an opinion piece by Dr. Anthony Fauci, who apparently broke the protocol, that Peter Navarro, a senior White House trade official. Fauci, in his strongest push so far in the White House, in an attempt to dismiss him, warned his administration officials that they were damaging the president’s credibility. Speaking about the Atlantic, Fauci said the White House attacks were “weird” and eventually hurt Trump. “I can’t figure out why they want to do it in my wildest dreams,” he said. “I think now they realize that was not a prudent thing, just because it reflects negatively on them.” Speaking as the White House worked away from Navarro’s opinion piece, he had similar views on opinions written by Trump himself this weekend and given by the White House. The White House communications office stressed that Navarro did not clear his article through them before USA Today was published. Trump himself has called the piece a mistake. But Navarro noted the sentiment – Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease specialist, was wrong more than once during the pandemic – when White House officials questioned reporters about their dossier over the weekend. Trump spent Wednesday in the Oval Office before moving on to a tougher move to the White House toward Atlanta. “He has made a statement that he represents himself,” Trump said when asked about the article. “He wouldn’t do that. I have a very good relationship with Anthony.” “We’re all on the same team,” Trump said, “including Dr. Fauci.” #Fauci #CNN #Notes.
