Relief aid arrives in Syria four months after the historic earthquake

SYRIA (MNN) — Ten United Nations trucks carrying relief aid finally arrived in northwest Syria on Friday, four months after historic earthquakes rocked the region.

It was the first aid convoy to cross from a government area into a rebel-held enclave since January. Aid delivery quickly became a political pawn after the disaster.

The February earthquakes added another layer of disaster to Syria’s 13-year crisis. Millions of people displaced by war find themselves homeless again.

Samuel* with redemptive stories says the Syrian war is on hold — for now.

The United Nations reported that more than 15 million Syrians need help to survive today, and an estimated 8.8 million people were affected by the February earthquake.

“The aftershocks can continue for another period of time; months, in fact,” Samuel says.
