Tributes to civil rights leader John Lewis Luther King – BBC News

Tributes have been paid to one of the most important figures in the American civil rights movement, John Lewis, who died at the age of 80. Congress was one of the organizers in Washington in March 1963, with Martin Luther King giving his “I Have a Dream Speech.” Barack Obama, America’s first black president, spoke of John Lewis’s “tremendous impact” in the fight against civil rights. Obama said John Lewis said he could only go to the presidency because of the sacrifices made by the civil rights campaign. Kate Silverton reports on BBC News to Rajini Vaidyanathan.
