A 4.1 magnitude earthquake strikes Jamestown and surrounding areas in South Australia

South Australia has been hit by a second earthquake since Monday.

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Jamestown area, about 207 kilometers north of Adelaide, at about 4pm on Wednesday.

According to the Australian Geosciences Authority, the earthquake occurred at a depth of one kilometre.

A total of 174 “felt reports” have been recorded so far.

Residents of the nearby towns of Leura, Mount Brian, Spalding and Wairabara wrote on social media that they felt the quake.

One person said: “(I've rocked everything on my wardrobe… in the Wirrabara.”)

“We definitely felt it. Our entire house shook for a few seconds,” another wrote.

On Monday, residents across the Adelaide Hills and urban areas were hit by a 2.7 magnitude earthquake.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Mount Barker area, and was measured at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Jamestown, with a population of 1,500, recorded another earthquake in January this year. More than 120 people reported feeling the 3.5 magnitude earthquake.
