A simple earthquake in southern Italy caused damage to the structures inside the archaeological site of Pompeii.

Officials confirmed on Thursday that the wall and the title had partially collapsed.

The 3.2 -size earthquake is the latest in a series of emerging tremors near the Camby Fleege Super volcano, not far from Napoli.

The affected section of Pompeii had previously damaged during a major earthquake in 1980.

The restoration work has been carried out since then.

Gabriel Zushtragele, the site manager, said that the inspections are underway to confirm whether the other areas were affected by the earthquake.

No shaking injuries were reported.

The damaged structure did not include any obscene or moving effects.

Pompeii was famously destroyed by the Fisovius mountain eruption in 79 m.

The rich city, which was home to between 10,000 and 20,000 people, was largely preserved under a thick layer of volcanic ash.

It was appointed to UNESCO's World Heritage website because it “provides a complete picture of an ancient Roman city.”
