Dozens of earthquakes shake Japan after the tsunami warning was cancelled

At least 25 earthquakes have struck off the coast of Japan in the past 24 hours, some with a magnitude of more than 6.0.

The largest earthquake in the series recorded a magnitude of 6.8 and triggered a tsunami warning that lasted several hours before it was cancelled, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The magnitude of the earthquakes ranged between 4.5, and many of them reached more than 5.0, which can cause damage and possible loss of life.

The cluster is located about 75 miles off the coast of Iwate Prefecture, with one earthquake occurring further north near Hokkaido Prefecture.
