San Ramon has been hit by several earthquakes, with a magnitude of 3.8 being the strongest

A series of earthquakes hit the East Bay area Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 9:39 a.m., a 3.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Summerwood Loop and Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon. Within three minutes of the first quake, three more tremors occurred within a radius of approximately one mile.

The US Geological Survey website shows that the magnitude of the earthquakes reached 3.7, 3.0, and 2.9.

Residents in San Ramon and Dublin reported feeling a slight tremor, and residents in Danville and Pleasanton reported a weak tremor, according to “did you feel it” responses.

A fifth earthquake was recorded just before 10:20 a.m., less than half a mile away from the first. The earthquake's magnitude reached 2.5, according to the US Geological Survey.

At about the same time as the fifth quake, an earthquake was recorded 14 miles west of Paterson, and about 66 miles south of San Ramon. The USGS website shows the quake was a magnitude 2.8.

San Ramon was hit by a sixth earthquake around 10:42 a.m. with a magnitude of 3.2. It was recorded near where the first and fifth earthquakes occurred. A seventh earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 occurred seconds later.

Shortly before noon, an eighth earthquake with a magnitude of 3 struck San Ramon.
