102 earthquakes recorded in Jordan…

The Jordanian Seismic Center monitored 12,227 earthquakes from the beginning of 2025 until the end of November, according to its director, Ghassan Suwaidan.

Suwaidan told Al-Mamlaka that these earthquakes included local, regional, and distant events, with 102 local, 562 regional, and 563 remote earthquakes.

He explained that local earthquakes occurred in several areas in Jordan:

19 in the Dead Sea region

10 in Aqaba and the Red Sea

13 in Wadi Araba

21 in the Jordan Valley and Tiberias

3 in Al-Ruwaished and Al-Sarhan areas

36 in the immediate vicinity

The strongest of these tremors was an earthquake in the Gulf of Aqaba, about 60 kilometers from the Jordanian coast, with a magnitude ranging between 1 and 4.2 on the Richter scale.

Suwaidan added that 562 regional earthquakes ranged in magnitude between 3 and 6.2, most of which occurred in the Mediterranean region. The distant earthquakes registered magnitudes between 4.2 and 7.5, and most of them occurred in eastern Russia.

Regarding unusual seismic activity, Suwaidan confirmed that no abnormal seismic patterns were monitored inside Jordan during this period, indicating that the recorded activity falls within the normal range in terms of frequency and magnitude.

He also pointed out that the level of local seismic activity in 2025 was lower than it was in 2024, stressing that the general seismic activity in Jordan remains typical and not unusual.
