The prime minister said Iran’s nuclear deal should be replaced with a “Trump deal”.

Boris Johnson said he acknowledged US concerns that the 2015 deal was “flawed”, but that Tehran had to stop acquiring nuclear weapons.

“If we’re going to get rid of it, we need a replacement,” he told the BBC Breakfast. “Let’s give Trump a deal.”

His comments sparked a dispute mechanism between the UK, France and Germany following Iran’s violations.

Fears are growing about the future of the Comprehensive Action Plan (JCPOA) in 2015, which the US canceled in 2018.
