TKO, IFRC sign a memorandum of understanding for emergency medical teams
The World Health Organization and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) today launched a new collaboration to strengthen the provision of emergency medical and health services during humanitarian crises.
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and IFRC Secretary General Mr. Jagan Chapagain signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in implementing the Emergency Medical Team (EMT) initiative.
“We thank the IFRC for its support since the beginning of the EMT initiative and look forward to this ongoing partnership in improving the quality of emergency care,” Dr. Tedros said. “With the COVID-19 pandemic and a significant increase in emergencies around the world, this agreement cannot come at a better time.”
Mr Chapagain said the IFRC is committed to working with the WHO in providing life-saving health services to communities affected by humanitarian emergencies.
“This MoU will allow us to standardize our emergency medical work and will provide increased support to the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies that play such a key role in responding to emergencies,” Mr. Chapagain said. “We are very committed to working with the WHO to provide the quality emergency health services that communities desperately need in times of crisis.”
The MoU, also known as the Red Channel Agreement, is the culmination of a long-standing collaboration between the IFRC and the WHO Emergency Medical Team Initiative.
The new agreement will bring more synergies in response to health emergencies between the two international organizations, especially in technical standards, accountability and coordination.
Align IFRC system with WHO’s global emergency medical classification system, recognizing IFRC emergency response units as EMTs and enhancing the involvement of IFRC teams and the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Society in capacity building efforts EMT network.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
