Health unions warn over strike to pay NHS over 1% – BBC News

Unions representing ten thousand health workers are warning of a strike action proposed by the UK government to raise a 1% wage for most NHS workers in England. Health workers said it was “insult and hypocrisy”. But the government stresses that all that can be given in difficult times for public finances is 1%. Another million public sector workers, teachers, the armed forces, firefighters and police will have to freeze their salaries for a year.
