Coronavirus: The test booking website will cost thousands and thousands – BBC News

A new government website, where key employees and their families booked coronavirus tests online, had to close at some point due to requests.

Nearly 50,000 people in England tried to get the website up and running within hours. 16,000 of them managed to book an appointment via drive or take home testing kits.

Nearly 20,000 people have died in hospitals in the UK from coronaviruses. Among them were twin sisters this week. Katy and Emma Davis were 37 years old and died inside each other. Katy was a child nurse in Southampton. Twin Emma also worked as a nurse.

Sophie Raworth has presented BBC reports to Hood Pym Health editor and correspondent Duncan Kennedy.
