More earthquakes hit eastern Taiwan on Wednesday

Taipei, April 21 (CNA) Two additional earthquakes jolted Hualien County, east Taiwan Wednesday morning, after two previous earthquakes jolted the county early in the morning, according to the Central Meteorological Office.

However, there were no reports of damage or injuries from the earthquake.

A 3.2-magnitude earthquake struck Hualien at 9:36 a.m. and the epicenter was located about 18.2 kilometers from west to southwest of Hualien County, at a depth of 15.5 kilometers, according to the bureau’s seismic center.

The CWB said the quake’s intensity, which measures its actual impact, was highest in Hualien, at 2 on Taiwan’s 7-level intensity scale.

Another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 struck Hualien City at 11:01 a.m. with its epicenter located about 25.1 kilometers southwest of Hualien County Hall, at a depth of 16.1 kilometers, according to the Labor Office.

The intensity of the second earthquake was higher than 3 in Hualien City, according to the bureau’s seismic center.

Early Wednesday morning, two earthquakes of 3.7 and 3.4 magnitude respectively shook Hualien City.
