Bojnurd, May 17, 2021 (Iraqi Red Crescent) – In the wake of a 5.5-magnitude earthquake in Sankast, North Khorasan Province, early Monday morning, Iranian Red Crescent teams provided emergency supplies to those affected.

The quake struck at 3:34 am (local time) at a depth of 16 km on Monday, May 17th.

After the earthquake, the Iranian Red Crescent sent relief teams and a rescue helicopter to the affected areas.

Aid workers set up tents and distributed blankets, rugs and canned food to the affected areas.

“The Red Crescent has provided emergency shelters for 70 families,” said Mehdi Valipur, head of the Relief and Rescue Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent. Emergency items have been distributed to the affected families and more aid is ready to be sent to the people. “

In 5 villages, houses were reported to be 50 percent damaged. Seven villages in Karma were slightly damaged, most of them in the village of Shork.
