Rabies-infected raccoon attack in Kalman, 3 treated
An “aggressive” raccoon attacked Kalman’s bystanders this week and began post-exposure rabies treatment to prevent infection of its victims and two others.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), tests have confirmed rabies-positive after a raccoon attacked a person on a promenade near the Fox Hollow Road block in Kalman. A follow-up study found two additional people they believed were in contact and in need of treatment.
