Salt Lake City — Friday’s Intermountain Healthcare reported that the hospital’s ICU and acute care unit exceeded 100% capacity due to a surge in COVID cases in Utah.

On Thursday, the Utah Department of Health re-reported a number of new COVID cases (1,243) with ever-increasing hospitalizations.
Intermountain Healthcare reported on Friday that their ICU reached 102% and 100% in the acute care unit.

As a result, Intermountain said it is considering all options, including the possibility of delaying non-urgent procedures and implementing stricter visit policies.
“As the number of hospitals grows, caregivers report that they are tired and tired of facing a large number of patients again, including not only COVID patients, but also trauma patients and patients receiving regular non-COVID care. “We do,” hospital spokeswoman Jess Gomez said in a news release.
