CGH Covid-19 Cluster: All 14 infected are staff, most from outsourced service partners Health News & Top Stories
Singapore-Changi General Hospital (CGH) The cluster found there on Friday (September 3rd) was said by the hospital.
On Saturday, CGH said all 14 cases in the cluster were part of staff and were primarily from outsourced service partners.
It states in a statement: “These staff have workplaces at the basement level of the hospital and do not interact directly with patients during the course of their work.
“Almost all were fully vaccinated and all adhered to safe controls. No one has a serious illness, primarily due to vaccination.”
According to CGH, the clinical area is unaffected, hospitals adhere to general visit guidelines and remain safe for clinical appointments and ward visits.
He added that preventive measures such as thorough cleaning and disinfection of relevant areas have been completed and infection control protocols are being implemented on the hospital premises.
Tracking and testing are the ring fences for infections.
CGH states: “The swab testing of CGH staff working at the basement level is almost complete. As an additional precaution, all CGH staff, including outsourced service partners, will undergo a one-time, self-administered antigen rapid test.”
The hospital said the test was on top of an already established rostered routine test system for those who interact with the patient.
Staff identified as close contact with infected individuals were on leave until they received a quarantine order or further investigations were conducted.
The hospital is working with the Ministry of Health and epidemiological investigations are underway on positive cases, CGH said.
The CGH has urged people in the community who have not opted for Covid-19 vaccination to do so, as vaccination has proven to minimize the severity of infection.
