Victoria recorded 392 new COVID-19 cases, hitting “young, unvaccinated”
Victoria recorded 392 COVID-19s from the last 24 hours to 8 pm last night, most of them “young and unvaccinated.”
Victoria recorded an additional 392 local cases of COVID-19 on Sunday morning, bringing the state to a total of 3,112 cases.
Of the 392 cases, only 107 are associated with known outbreaks.
Over 36,000 COVID-19 vaccines were given on Saturday, and 65% of Victorian people received their first vaccination.
Health Minister Martin Foley warned that most of the infections were young and unvaccinated, so he continued to urge Victorians to come forward for the jab.
Of the 450 record cases on Saturday, 85% were under the age of 50.
“We continue to see this outbreak concentrated in young people and unvaccinated people,” he told reporters.
Foley said 89% of COVID-19 cases in the hospital were unvaccinated, but only 11% received a single dose.
“The message is very clear. Being fully vaccinated will make you safer, will not go to the hospital, and more importantly, keep the people you love and support in the community safe. I can.”
