Suffolk Stuart Kible in Covid’s Enhanced Response Area

Suffolk public health leaders warned that “we are now taking on new challenges” after the county received additional government support to tackle high Covid rates.

From Monday, Suffolk Enhanced response area (ERA) — Means that a team of experts will be deployed to assist in avoiding vaccination, communication, and control of outbreaks.

Other measures implemented include swift government decisions, enhanced school action, national teams to support local outbreak teams in surge tests, and recruitment of additional volunteers.

The UK Health Security Agency’s decision to make Suffolk ERA Request from the local outbreak involvement committee.

Suffolk’s director of public health, Stuart Kieble, welcomed the move in hopes of protecting the NHS this winter.

He states: “Since the pandemic began, we have been closely monitoring the impact of Covid-19 in Suffolk and taking action to protect people and save lives.

“Even if the infection rate dropped during the summer, the job didn’t stop.

“We are facing new challenges now: the NHS is catching up with the delays in treatment of millions of people, while at the same time high infection rates and continuous hospitalization.

“Therefore, after evaluating all the data and options we have available, we placed this bid for additional support from the central government.
