Inoculated the wrong amount of COVID-19 vaccine to elementary school students in Montgomery County
Montgomery County, Maryland (FOX 5 DC) ―――― Student Montgomery County Elementary school was given the wrong amount of Pfizer COVID-19 (New Coronavirus Infection) Vaccines at the clinic held at the school on Wednesday, according to Montgomery County officials.

Parents of 98 students at South Lake Elementary School in Montgomery Village were notified of the incident on Monday night. Affected children received a Pfizer vaccine that was diluted more than recommended.
An additional clinic will be held at the school on Wednesday, November 17th, to help affected children get additional doses. Children who are unable to attend the clinic on Wednesday are advised to repeat vaccinations as soon as possible.
The only students affected were those vaccinated at South Lakes Elementary School.

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services learned on Saturday that affected children received an over-diluted amount of Pfizer’s pediatric vaccine. The staff noticed their mistake and notified the people involved.
Health officials consulted with the Maryland Health Pfizer Department and recommended that children take additional doses as soon as possible.
“We apologize for the error and also offer children the opportunity to re-vaccine,” said Dr. James Bridgers, Deputy County Health Officer. “We are convinced that this is an isolated situation and our staff have already received additional training on pediatric dose reconstitution and administration.” Staff have provided clinical guidance on the administration of vaccine doses to this age group. Since the pediatric vaccine was approved by the Food and Drug Administration and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 11,146 children in this age group have been vaccinated in county and Montgomery County Public School-sponsored clinics.
In addition, an additional 8,061 doses have been given through local doctors and pharmacies. Montgomery County leads all Maryland jurisdictions in the number of pediatric doses administered.
