A UV-C array mounted on top of a mobile robot emits short-wave ultraviolet light that kills microbes and destroys DNA, the team said. This process is commonly used in hospitals and healthcare facilities to sterilize rooms and prevent the spread of microorganisms.

The team happens to be focusing on a single robot that is deployed in the food bank, but said the team is investigating “what a multi-robot solution looks like in the future.”
